Sir Edmund Hillary has born in Auckland, a Dominion of New Zealand in 1919. Hillary is best known as the first person to reach the top of Mount Everest, the highest mountain in the world at 29,029 feet. Sir Edmund (Percival) Hillary was an explorer and mountaineer. He, along with Nepalese Sherpa guide, Tenzing Norgay, were the first two climbers to reach the summit of Mount Everest on May 29, 1953.

After a lifetime of exploration achievement, Sir Edmund Hillary died a hero in his home country of New Zealand in 2008.
